Do Bloggers feel isolated?

Are you an academic, or thinking and regular Blogger?

Do you feel lonely, isolated even depressed?

In a post by my friend Gloria Moss of the University of Glamorgan, she highlights difficulties faced by "British individualism" amongst academics. Does this extend to the Blogosphere and cyberspace in general?.

UPDATE
Looks like Dr Blogstein will be isolated after his outburst directed towards Tisha. What a schmuck.

In a word, yes...

Actually it's the opposite, it's impossible to feel lonely while blogging, there are so many people out there to discover and have a good conversation with.

very thought-provoking article and you linking it to blogging and cyberspace.

for me it's the contrary, my blog and blogging is just an extension of my out-going personality and desire, need to understand people better. cyberspace provides a myriad of opportunities to meet interesting people from far away places and cultures I wouldn't otherwise have met.

to understand people better is to come to a better understanding of ourselves and relationships with others.

I'm trying to separate the first sentence of 'are you an academic' or a 'regular, thinking' blogger and wondering why those two are mutually exclusive?

And, in regards to feeling lonely and depressed, sure, I get lonely, and sad (not depressed as such) but I dont think its relating to blogging. I'd express those feelings in other ways, if i were blogging or not.

And to answer your question, I am 35.

Fifth attempt to post a comment again, Jeremy. Don't know what the problem is here.

Interesting that you write of individualism, as I've jsut been reading about this and eccentricity and wondering how muych of mine is Bitish and how far other Brits tolerate it or how the Americans see it.

JJ--You're right--I messed with the wrong chick! Tisha wields mighty influence in the European Union of Blogs. I almost started an international incident which may have caused isolation. Luckily, we signed a peace treaty.

and now you've hacked me off by mentioning "European" and "Union" in the same sentence. Away with you..............
