Brown 'rules out' autumn election
Not yet quite confirmed but it is likely that Mr Brown will just get on with the job. Or rather his job, as many of us don't care much for his stealth taxes and raid on pensions. That though is for another day. The question on my mind after a week of "election-fever" is....
Isn't it about time we had fixed-term parliaments?

Only if we had a separately elected executive.
I take the point though.
Elected by whom?
If we had on fixed term parliaments we could rely on various electoral bribes every three and a half years...
Maybe Tony.
The problem with fixed terms is that the final two years of the term turns into an extended election campaign by all the parties, which doesn't really help the development of an effective political system.
