This could happen if your faced with interviewing somebody with an unusual or silly name as highlighted on the BBC this week
Although I wasn't on air at the time, I did meet a Doctor Doctor (I kid you not) fairly recently and found it a bit difficult not to laugh. One way of overcoming the giggles is to carefully bite the inside of your lip. I wrote about this in a post over on my other site in 2007. Read the post here.

1. You've had a good night's sleep beforehand, and
2. Eat properly.
Remember, you are a performer. Think and act like such.

3 ways to ruin your chances at Business Networking
Earlier today, I attended a networking meeting in Central London, run by a well known organisation. There were around 100 or so people there from a variety of businesses. Many were interesting and good listeners, some less so but there were three individuals who really ought to learn the fundamentals of *networking. Here's those 3 "no noes" for starters:
TIP 1. Do not barge in on a "closed two".
Scene: I was in conversation with an executive of a well known company. All of a sudden from my left and overweight gentleman with an absurd tie said "hello" and started to ask a question of the executive. No rapport building or politeness. He even had the temerity to ask me to hold his glass of red wine. I put it on the nearest table, made an excuse and left the poor executive to handle "Mr Buffoon".
TIP 2. Never peer at name badges.
Scene: Two women and I were discussing business opportunities when we were approached by "Mr Nerd". He leant towards us three, peered at our name badges, then scuttled away after rambling on for a minute or so about the services he offered. Needless to say, my two new friends and I were most unimpressed. The title on his business card said "Head of Sales".
TIP 3. Remain sober and listen.
Scene: The three of us were joined by a fourth and things were going along really well until "Mr Large" turned up. Perhaps I should call him Mr Me, because that's all he was interested in - himself. Also, he was clearly drunk, rude and bellicose.
All three of these people, in my opinion, behaved in a socially inadequate manner. The Golden Rule of networking is to exhibit unconditional giving.

My Face, Your Radio - again.
Ever heard of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?
Bet you haven't. But you should have. And you might think that spending an evening talking about a disease would be a grim one (especially a disease that kills about 1 in every 3,000 boys born around the world, and one which has no cure YET).
But it wasn't grim at all.
Actually, it was a lot of fun. I was a guest on 'PressPlay', the excellent radio show on JCom radio hosted by the superb Jeremy Jacobs. I was talking about all kinds of stuff - my books, music, how far you live from your mum (yes, YOU) - but my fellow guest was Doron Rosenfeld, from the GM Trust.
Check out the Trust's site. It's nothing to do with General Motors, or Genetically Modified crops (though there is a tenuous 'genetic research' link with Jimmy Coates, in a strange way...).

Making music: Jewish radio station Jcom, based at Golders Green, is looking for presenters, producers and other volunteers.
Launched last Tuesday afternoon by Deputy Mayor for London Nicky Gavron, the station will broadcast across north west London on 101.4FM for the next four weeks in the hope of being granted a full-time licence.
It will also broadcast through the internet at www.jcomradio.net and include news, phone-ins, interviews, music, sport, food, religion, travel, comedy, children's interests and lifestyles.
Presenter Jeremy Jacobs said: "If all goes to plan, 2008 will herald the UK's first full-time, permanent Jewish station - something we all agree is long overdue."

Once in a while I indulge, ok every Friday but I make a point of bying fresh cut flowers that are in season. Yes it is extravagant but it cheers me up especially now it is dark at LUNCHTIME. So today I bought orange roses for my lounge, pink for the kitchen and glad it was Friday Gladioli for my tv room. When I got home and sat down with my cup of boiled water, (I’m detoxing) and looked over to the corner of the room where my favourite black vase stands. Guess what ? the magic Grandma Fairy had come in and filled it with beautiful flowers. Now doesn’t that put a smile on your face? So if you want to do something special for someone and you have their house keys (don’t try breaking in!) Deliver and arrange flowers now that is A PRINCESS PERFECT FLOWER ARRANGING TIP.

So the Government has got it wrong (well there's a surprise). This in today's Times on-line:
This weekend has seen the 3rd round Proper of the FA Cup. One of the featured games on BBC tv was Tamworth v Norwich. The last time I was at the Lamb I covered Tamworth v Margate in the Conference a few years back. That was for TTFC (The Footballers Football Channel) an internet tv station, now defunct.
One of the radio reporters that day was Marc Webber, who was on duty for the Beeb at Bristol City v Coventry earlier today.
Just come across this brilliant site at Dr Simon Moore's Zentelligence blog. "Pandora" presents you with a way of choosing your favourite records. Basically, you're in control.
Seems a great new way of listening to your favourite music.
Radio broadcasters beware!
These were outlined by a charming young lady from Adelaide called Beerli. Her Blog is known as The Talk of the Town.
The charming young lady on the left is supermodel, Kaja Wunder, who's the co-founder of The Button Club.
1. The length of the post is irrelevant. It’s the content and it’s a bit hard to judge sometimes what will take off. Readers often like different and quirky, but they also like to get stuck into some meatier subjects.
2. Pictures help. Readers react to pictures and it’s often the ones which stir a memory, capture the imagination or make them laugh which get the reactions.
3. One day you will go to your blog and you will feel sick. You will not want to blog. It’s like aversion therapy. Some people delete their blogs or blogs are left hanging in space. Know this will happen, that it feels awful but that it will pass.
4. Blog holidays are good. After a week’s break you come back just popping!
5. Get a stat counter which lets you see who visits. It is so exciting to know that someone has come in from Thailand or Greece. It really cheers you up to know there are people in far flung corners who come to read your blog.
6. Get an RSS feed going. It does improve the traffic.
7. Join places like Blog Lines, Blog Explosion and Blogshares. It gets your blog known, it makes you feel like a somebody and it helps you to create the connections which you wish to make.
8. Some of the best bloggers I have come to value suddenly just stop blogging. It can be very upsetting and you wonder what has happened. Expect to feel attached and be ready for the separation anxiety.
9. Don’t be frightened to ask for help if you don’t know how to do something or what something means. The blogosphere is full of kind , helpful people who do not make you feel stupid.
10. Link away! Ask to link your blog, let others link to you. That network can be crucial at times.
(From the BBC News website)Talksport phone-in host Mike Dickin, known to listeners as "The King", has died in a car crash.
The presenter, who was in his 60s, was involved in a six car pile-up on the A30 on Monday. He was airlifted to hospital but was pronounced dead.
Dickin started his broadcasting career at BBC Radio Oxford in the 1970s, where he was the first presenter on the air.
He also broadcast on Radio 4 and LBC, and won an award for his coverage of the Lockerbie disaster in 1988.
The presenter, who broadcast from his home studio in Bodmin Moor, was known for his passionate, outspoken views.
Listeners dubbed him Britain's angriest man, but he was also known as "The King" because of his supposed resemblance to Henry VIII.
Last month, BBC's The World at One presenter Nick Clarke passed away from cancer.
Clarke presented The World at One, the BBC's flagship politics programme, for 12 years, taking the reins in February 1994. He resumed his work this summer after a nine-month absence to fight a soft tissue sarcoma, a cancer that cost him his left leg.
That's two great "radio voices" we've lost in recent weeks.
So if we are to believe the gossip, Lembit Opik the crafty Liberal Democrat MP, may have had a dalliance with one of the "Cheeky Girls".
