I've always had an obsession with 'Zulu', which also stars Stanley Baker. I think he co-directed it too with Cy Endfield.
The John Barry music plus the great characters and screen shots make it wonderful for a Sunday afternoon.
Ah, the bit where they sing 'Men of Harlech' as the Zulus first chant and beat the shields then finally charge. Raises hairs on the back of the neck each time. Yes, my favourite.

I remember seeing Hell Drivers on the Telly in the 70s.

I'm rather fond of "The smallest Show on earth".

Shades.

I remember it being on around that time as well. A couple of things from last night.

1. Lovely to see the a trolley bus

2. I'm certain they cut out William Hartnell's look if anguish in the final scene.

Kind Hearts and Coronets. 1949.

Wonderful.

The best bit was the puff of smoke from the shed.

Long Good Friday. 1980.

Far too modern but a classic nontheless

Oh, and "The Blue Lamp" in which they went and killed off a certain Constable Dixon, though!

I was also going to say "Mrs Miniver" but just looked it up and to my disappointment it was made in the USA!

A first class film from the war (1944) called "The Way Ahead" with David Niven, Stanley Holloway,William Hartnell and a young Ustinov. Excellent understated piece of wartime propaganda: see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037449/
