Do You Twitter?

I can be a useful tool. But that depends on how people use it!

I think it'll be bigger than Facebook

I agree you can post a short punchy message with a link that people pick up on and check out.

I have never been on facebook, but recently I have joined a Trade Union equivalent. One of it's features is something that works just like Twitter and that for me has been the most effective part of the site!

If you use twitter in the right way then it can and will be effective. I've met a couple of interesting contacts through the system which have led to collaborations.

I've also met one or two interesting characters

I've gotten my last four consulting gigs through Twitter, and innumerable lunches with interesting people. Heck, I have to eat anyway!

I've run a charity campaign on Twitter that resulted in the donation of about $5000 worth of cellphones for people in the inner city over two weeks.

If it is used wisely it can be highly effective. If abused, it can tarnish your brand at lightspeed.

The key thing to remember about social media is, it's SOCIAL!

As ever Raincoaster is quite correct. But, one must have a strategy in place before succeeding with any social network.

True. You cannot succeed if you don't have a goal in the first place. "Just get on Twitter" is not a goal.
